My weight is stable at about 85kg and this is good. Summer is on the way and I am looking forward to it.

Both Heather and I are getting in a few good kms in practice for the Great Vic Bike ride. Scouting has been taking a fair bit of time and I may need to reduce this over the next year so I can ride some more. I would love to be able to do a few short overnight camping trips on the bike after the GVBR is over.

September brings the Spring

Septemeber is the start of Spring and riding time usually.
Paul from Greenspeed answered my emails on the 2 scorcher tyres and I returned them later in the month. Thanks Paul for the replacements. Don at the LBS took a while to get replacements in so I was a while without a tyre for the trike so did a fair bit on the wedgie.

Saturday September 1st 72 km on the trike
Sunday September 2nd 42 km on the wedgie with the Inverloch riding group the Bass Coast Cruisers.

218 km on the trike.
615 km in total on all forms of bike.
An average of almost 20.5 km per day. Bring on the summer. The extra weekend in the days helps.
I now have 3 spare tyres and know Don has another 2 for me if I need them. I will need another one before the GVBR and will take a spare with me on the ride. I expect to wear a third out before the end of the year and be back to no spares by then.
The Scorcher TR tyres are great and have cut punctures.

Setting new Goals

With the start of the financial year I have set new targets. I hope to add up all the distances I do on the different bikes I ride. My new target is 150km per week. This is up from what I managed last year but I wasn't counting all the different rides I did. I may not reach the target but then I need to aim at something. I would love to set up the trike with electric assist and then commute to work the 26km each day but that may never happen.
The first week I have riden,43km Trike, 25km exercise bike (recumbent of course), 36km Exercise Bike, 60km Exercise bike. 164km total for the first week.
This week so far 55km Wedgie, 15km Trike.
Onward and upward, don't think just pedal.

Saturday 30 June 2007

End of Year Review

The financail year come to a close and this markes just over 12 months of bent biking in Gippsland.
The odometer reads 5833 on the trike and 470 on the wedgie. There was about 150km I did when I first got the trike before I got the speedo. I total 6450 for the year. An average of 530km per month or 124 per yeek. In all this has been a great year for riding for me. I have dropped about 12 kgs and feel good. Winter this year is a bugger but it will improve.

I have started the year with 42 km on the trike today on the windy weather.

Sunday 24 June 2007

A lovely Winter Day

Saturday was cold at the start and the ride was well attended. About 16 of us headed off at 7 am for the 42 km. One rider got a flat not far out of Inverloch which went off very loudly. This slowed the ride down and we broke into a couple of groups for the rest of the ride.
The Sunday ride was also a cool but not to cold start. 6 of us headed off to take Mount Misery, 3km of uphill. The entire ride is a couple of km longer at 44.5 km so we were back later than the main group. The challange of the hill was good and the downhill even better. I topped out at 74km/hr in the downhill straight. A new top speed for me on a bike.
Later in the day Heather and I did the block and completed 35.5 km. The weekend total for me was 122km. Most again on the wedgie.

Saturday 16 June 2007

More time on Wedgie

I have been doing more km on the wedgie than on the trike lately. The poor weather during the week and the short days mean not much time to ride during the week. Saturday and Sunday I rode with the Inverloch group (Coastal Coasters?) and I do this on the wedgie as it is a peleton ride. I rode to Wonthaggi and the cape on Saturday with Heather for 35 km. We were just going for coffee and cake at Macca. Evan was on shift but ignored us mainly. I bought a set of full finger winter gloves for me and a set of giant bar ends to use on the trike for equipment mounting from the mirror mount. I will need to shorten one for the inside near my leg but other than that the mirror may need to mounted on the end. I am getting ready got the gps mount for my solo rides to save having to check maps.
Just under 120 km for the weekend.

Monday 11 June 2007

A winter long weekend

The Queens Birthday weekend is the start of the snow season locally and the weather sis not disappoint the snow bunnies.
Suaturday and Sunday were fine days but cold and I managed 40 km each day of the trike and did another 30 on the wedgie with Heather on the Sunday. Monday was a rest day for all of us. The cold weather has bought me the realisation that i need warmer clothes for the morning rides. wind proof would be great. I will look during the week.

Tuesday 5 June 2007

Lost my Advantage

May has come and gone and the weather has turned cold. The advantage of 230 km I had over my average of 500km per month at the start of May has disapeared. The month ended with the odometer reading 5535km for the last 11 months.
The weekend bought 2 20km rides on Saturday and a 106 km on sunday. The saturday afternoon ride was with Heather to Eagles Nest. Sunday I set out at 7:30 am for a ride to Bell Park
53 km there and 53km home. The sun was down by the time I got home. Bell Park is the Scout Camp and wwe had the Bily Cart Derby there on the sunday. I was very cold by the time I got home and need to look at the cold weather gear if I am to ride at this time more.
A good weekend in all but the winter is having an effect. I must have warm gear.

Monday 28 May 2007

A fine weekend

In this part of the world the autumn weather can be great, cool frosty mornings and fine warm days. This is how the weekend was. Just teriffic.
Saturday Morning I rode the wedgie with the Inverloch riding group, we averaged 31.75 kph and did the trip in 1 hour 16 minutes. A few of us were taking turns at sprinting in front. Good fun but not for the long haul.
After a coffee at Paul the Pieman I was off to a Scout camp at Outtrim for the weekend. I rode out on the trike with the trailer. The route is at http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=993504 It is only about 18 km each way but the headwind on the way out was hard work. It died off sunday morning but came up again about 2 hours before I was due to go home. A quicker ride home for all the assisstance.
In all the weekend was just under 80km riding and one very late night.

Friday 25 May 2007

Very quiet time as the weather turns

I have not been riding much over the last 2 weeks. The weather has turned wet and the farmers love it. The few good days have not lined up with the time I have available so little riding, I rode 36 km around town 3 times last saturday before doing a days work at the campsite. Sunday I stayed in bed. This week has been wet and cold in the early days and later when I wanted to ride to work has been very windy. These might just be excuses but I think I will need to return to the winter plan of riding during lunch time at work to make the most of the day. I hope t ride both bikes on the weekend and attend a Scout camp.

Saturday 12 May 2007

Great weekend weather

Both Saturday and Sunday turned into great days after a cool start. I went on the Inverloch group ride of 40 km on the wedgie on Saturday morning. I couldn't go on the longer ride as I had a Campsite Event to attend from 9 am.
Sunday I planned and completed a 107.5km ride on the trike. The route is on bikely as http://www.bikely.com/maps/bike-path/35864. Part road and part rail trail via Korumburra, Leongatha, Meeniyan and Tarwin. A 7am start with a 11:30 finish door to door with an average riding of 25km. Average overall 23.7 km/hr
The wildlife was not very active on the rail trail but I did see a Koala crossing the road at Middle Tarwin. The ride included Mt Misery out of Outtrim and while I made it up the hill I did stop at the lookout for arest and stretch. The temperature was cool where the fog was and it took a while to get down to one layer of clothing. My water consumption was 2 1/4 litres and I made a few toilet stops due to the cold.
I enjoyed the ride and the challanges of My Misery, the Koonwarra to Meeniyan back road and the 100+ kms. A great was to spend 1/2 a day.

Friday 11 May 2007

Weather turning Cold

The weather is turning cold and the night is falling early. I am finding it hard to fit in a long ride after work. I managed 20 km twice during the week and the weekend promises to hold a couple of good days for riding. Heather is at a weding in Melbourne and I have an event to attend saturday until after lunch.

Sunday 6 May 2007

I've been Lazy

I haven't been updating a lot in the last week or so. I have been riding though. I did a couple of after work rides on Monday and thursday both 34km. One of then I averaged 31.5 km which is a new PB for me. By the end of April I ended up 235km above my target 500 km per month (total over the last 10 months) I have ridden the wedgie on Saturday and Sunday. The saturday morning ride was in the rain and I had a working bee to go to so didn't stop for coffee afterwards. Sunday afternoon Heather and I rode the block (34km) and we did a good time. Heather is improving greatly with all her training.

Friday 27 April 2007

Anzac Day.

The week was busy with meetings monday and tuesday nights, Wednesday was Anzac Day, another meeting thursday night and a couple of phone calls to make firday night.
Heather and I rode 30 km on Wednesday afternoon and I did it on "reggie" the wedgie. Friday after nnon I made it home in reasonable time so we went for a 20km on the trike with Heather on her bike, She had already done over 12 km earlier in the day so I did another lap of town to gat just over the 30 km. Saturday today and we have just completed 30km out to Eagles nest and around town. I did this on the trike. This ngives me 90 km for the week and sunday still to go and Heather is above her target of 80 km a week. She is getting faster as well.

Friday 20 April 2007

A new Wedgie.

I have finally sorted out a new wedgie. In the end I bought new and bought local. A Merida 903-18 Under 10 kg, cardon forks and veryy smooth to ride. Can be found at Merida. Unfortunatly the site doesn't allow direct access to the page listing for the bike. Mine is Blue and white rather than the shown gold unit. I got a great deal from Don at Great Southern Cycles as usual and like the fact that I have good local support if needed. Don through in a set of pedals and a 1/2 price helmet. I rode home and just need t get used to the harder seat. I may change this over later if I struggle too much with it.
I rode home on it from Leongatha to Inverloch (26km) and found the usual problem of some drivers not giving much room to lone cyclists. I seem to get more room on the trike. I had already done the 40 km loop in the morning on the GT3. So the day added upto 66km ocross the 2 bikes.

Today (friday) both Heather and I got up early to ride with the Inverloch Group. Heather did 34km and me the 40km. I found it a lot less work on the new bike. Stuart was there and talked abut Helen and his recent ride from Port Augusta in South Australia back to Inverloch over 4 weeks. In all just under 1500km of riding over 21 riding days. They camped and had a trailer all the way. A great cycle tour.
Today I also rode the Tarwin Lower and back to watch Barry play footy in the thirds. They won and I added 41km to the trike. A nice ride but the wind was picking up on the way back.
I am keeping to my 500km a month target but have not decided if this will be across both bikes or just the trike and I set another target for the wedgie.

Wednesday 18 April 2007

A Gentle Ride

I am having a week off work to complete my holidays for this year. More come due in May.
On Wednesday I went for a ride to Kongwak, Wonthaggi and the Cape Road. I past a group of 3 senoir riders as I was leaving Inverloch, I past them again as I was entering Wonthaggi and again as I rode the Cape to Inverloch Road. It works out that as I rode through Kongwak they had taken the Lynnes Road route, I stopped for Coffee at Wonthaggi and they kept riding. So we swapped positions a number of times.

Total for me was 53km and I enjoyed the ride.

Friday 13 April 2007

East Gippsland Rail Trail

Over the last 4 days I rode the East Gippsland Rail Trail as a self contained tour. I stayed at caravan parks at Bruthen, Orbost and Lakes Entrance. The ride tokk in 266 km over the 4 days plus the travel to and from Bairnsdale. A log of the trip can be found at Crazy Guy on a Bike.
The ride was good and I know I can do others when In have the time.
Today I went around the block and did the 33km at an average of 31km/hour. This is a new record for me.

Monday 9 April 2007

The rest of Easter.

I did 2 laps of town on Sunday and Heather and I did 20 km out to Eagles Nest on Monday Morning. There are lots of photos at the link of Inverloch. None are mine and copyright remains with the owners. A very calm morning and little wind all day. Hope it stas this way over the weekend.

I have been looking at a new podcast site call the Bike Tourist Podcast
The site has many interview and the one of ATTILA HORVATH is great for the music

I am packed and ready to set off tomorrow to ride the East Gippsland Rail Trail over 4 days from end to end and then back via Lakes Entrance. Hope the weather holds out. It will be about 250 km spread over the 4 days with a start mid morning on Tuesday and I hope to home on Friday night.
I will leave photos later.

Saturday 7 April 2007

Easter Saturday

The day was full. Started with a drive to the school to set up for the Easter Fair. Scouts were having a display and marshmellow cooking as a promo as part of the Fair. Stayed until 10.30 then went home to get changed and back to the footy oval to watch Barry play thrids footy againstDalyston. The forth had been thrashed but the fourths turned this around and thrashed the opposition. Baz got the hair cut aware. After footy I went back to the school and helped pack up after a while. A late lunch and then a ride of 49 km around town. The odometer read 575 at the end of the ride so I am close to taget for the month.

Red wine and pasta with grlic bread for tea. A good day.

Friday 6 April 2007

Easter is here with hoildays

I had a busy week and didnt get out for a ride. On call and other things stopped me and the lower daylight hours are starting to limit the time available. I did do 30 km on the execrice bike on Thursday night.
Good friday morning I went for a short ride around town and another one in the evening. A total of 49 km for the day. The air zound horn leaks plenty of air when you try to use it so it is only good for about 4 hoots. I may need to strip it and see if the sealing can be improved. Other than that it is a good loud horn.
The Scout group did the Good Friday Appeal again. About 12 of us all up collected for 3 hour. I am also getting ready for ride along the East Gippsland Rail Trail after Easter when I come off call and have the rest of the week off.

Monday 2 April 2007

A mixed weekend

I rode to Wonthaggi and back on Saturday on the trike. About 34km in all with part of it down the Bass Coast rail trail. I went as far as the surface allowed I turned back to bluestone only. Too rough to ride. I spent a while talking to a bloke about the trike and building trikes. The Wonthaggi HPV ride was on last weekend so his interest was at a high.
Sunday I rode with the Inverloch Group and did the 40km route. I was on the wedgie and managed to stay with the lead group all the way. A good ride and a nice mug of coffee afterwards. Later in the day Heather and I rode to Kongwak market and around Lynnes Road for a43 km trek. In all an it was an enjoyable day. I looked at the odometer and I am a bit low on the 500 km monthly average but that doesn't allow for the miles on the wedgie.
Still looking for a replacement wedgie.

Wednesday 28 March 2007

Trade up on the Wedgie

I had a cracked rim on the wedgie before the M2M ride and ordered a replacement wheel. The wheel still hadn't come in today so I cancelled the order. I think I will look for a good second hand wedgie. I need to replace the chain and will also need a new tyre so in the end I would spend about $100 fixing it up. I might as well put that towards a new bike.

I rode the 9 km to work yesterday and 20km back to make just under 30km for th day. I need to check to see how close I am to 500km per month average.

Monday 26 March 2007

M2M Murray to Moyne by Wedgie

I rode the M2M on the weekend. I managed to ride 191km in the 24 hours as part of 2 teams that rode togather. The ride started in Echuca at 10:45 saturday and rode through to Hmilton early sunday morning and then to Port Fairy from 7:30 in the morning. The saturday daylight hours where with a strong south west wind and we were mainly headed south west. A bummer the wind. I did ride on section with a tailwind and we sat on about 40km and had a great ride for about 10km.
The wind drpped right off in the dark and we were told to take a large hop along the road as many other teams had do earlier due to the wind. The night rides were great. At one stage 4 of us rolled for 8 km at 28km average and then joined the back of a pack at ovr 30km for over 10km until our section finished. Got off the bike elated.
We all rode to Port Fairy (90km) by being dropped the distance out we wanted to ride. I rode 60km with 2 others. David and Brenda. Davind was a good rider and we took turns as well as joining other packs. Brenda was wearing thin and is a smaller build then I. She was fine on the back but quickly dropped speed when in front. We nicknamed her backpack and she stayed there most of the way.
In all a good weekend ride only spoilt by the headwind on the saturday. Will I do it again? Probably.

Wednesday 21 March 2007

What a week

A busy week again. I went for a ride with the Inverloch riding group. The ride was the usual 42 km but along Lynnes Road the started the washing machine at 40 kms. Taking turns at overtaking each other with only a short time at the lead position. I tried it once but found it difficult just to stay in touch so I sat n the tail of of the first group with a couple of others. Interesting, we covered the distance in about 1 hour 15 minutes so it was a quick ride.

Sunday evening say the planned night ride. I rode the 19 km out in the light and then we had tea. Interesting that it is difficult to buy kebabs with vegies as part of them. Anyway we had tea and then rode off in the dark. We did 20 km in the dark at an average of over 27 km. Amazing riding and trusting the person in front will not stop quickly or ride into a pot hole. After the ride I rode home alone the last 19km. A total of 58km. Good fun and not something I would normally do.

Tonight (Wednesday) I rode the block of 33. km to Wonthaggi, Cape Paterson and back to Inverloch. AWindy ride and only average 28 km per hour.

Looking forward to the weekend ride n the wedgie but am getting annew rear wheel as the current one is cracked at the weld which is why it was breaking spokes. Not what i wanted but thats life.

Friday 16 March 2007

The week in review

Not much riding this week! Monday was a holiday so I only did 37.5 km around town as I was on call. Tuesday night was scouts, Wednesday I did 33.5km around the "block"
thursday I pumped up the tyres on the DF after I had changed them over for new tyres earlier in the week. I needed new tyres for the Murray to Moyne ride as the old ones were bulging in places mainly due to old age. I have also replaced the bottom bracket bearings with a sealed bearing unit and stripped and oiled the rear derailer. The ride got rid of most of the noises and I only need to tighten the cranks before saturday morning ride. 10 km ride that night.
Friday and I went for a 20km ride out to Eagles nest against a strong headwind. A good ride back and 20km completed. So 63.5 km for the week and I am looking at 40km in the mornig on the df if the weather is ok and about 70 on sunday night as part of the training for M2M.

Monday 12 March 2007

Jazz Festival Long Weekend

It is labour day monday and I did 3 laps of town in the morning and another ride in the afternoon with Heather. All up about 48 kms so not a bad effort. Heather is getting used to her new bike and is actually getting quick. It is amazing what light weight and a comfortable bike can do for a rider.

Sunday 11 March 2007

Quiet Weeks not Riding

With meetings each night and being on Call for work, I only managed to ride on Saturday Morning around town twice. 25km and one lap with Heather which was a suprise when she got out of bed to ride early. The weather has turned all windy early in the mornings and threatens rain so not much fun to ride in. I still need to get a horn and am looking to purchase a Air Zound but am not willing to pay over $50 and want to pay less if i can.

Sunday 4 March 2007

A good wedgie ride

Sunday was a cooler day than originally expected and I went for a training ride with the Murray to Moyne Group. About 12 of us in the end. All up it was 74km for me as I rode out to Outtrim and rode home when we were closest to home. I am suprised at how little sore bum I had after the ride. I had a bit of a squeek in the rear derailer that I need to fix. I also need 2 new tyres as these are going out of shape in a couple of places each. That will have to be a next weekend job.
All up the week say over 300km of riding on both bikes so a great week of riding. I also need new tyres for the front of the trike as i have worn through the left one and the right will not be far behind. I will get some scorcher TR tyres to try them out. At less than 4000 km from a tyre that is a cost of just over 1 cent per kilometer per tyre or 3 cent per km total.

Friday 2 March 2007

Holiday Rides and a new bike

Wednesday both Heather and I rode to Wonthaggi for Breaky at Maccas. We rode the straight way there and back for about 28 km. Later in the day I rode to Leongatha the long way and we had lunch. Heather drove up and we had a look at new bikes for her. I totaled 94 km for the day in all. photos are from the mobile phone and not very good detail. Don't think I bother with it in the future. Will need to use the proper camera. There are the Wonthaggi Windmills in the background.
Thursday we went back to Leongatha for more test rides. In the end Heather bought a Merida Speeder T2 road bike with an adjustable headstem. A nice light bike so she will enjoy riding more. We may need to put wider tyres on later but will wait and see.

Friday we went to Melbourne to do a few things. I got to ride from Dandenong to Northcote via Docklands and the Yarra. Some really good trails and paths. Some really bad signage to tell those who don't know where to go. I had a good time over all and rode 64km in the 4 hours total time.
Some of the paths are top class and I enjoyed the Dandenong path the best.

Monday 26 February 2007

A week off work

I am off work for this week and doing a few things around home. Put in a new door with a side light of glass bricks. Electric door locking and video door bell for upstairs is cool and works well.
I rode 33 km around the block on monday morning and 40km today before breaky. A bit of a headwind both days and it was worse today.

A quiet weeks riding

Not much riding during the week as I was on call for work for the week. I rode a couplw of laps of town on Wednesday for 25 km and a small lap on Thursday for 10kms. Saturday morning I did 3 laps of town for about 38km. I did this last on on the wedgie for practice for the Murray to Moyne.
On Sunday I rode with the M@M Team from Outtrim for about 40km. All up over 100km for the week but not very much in all. The wedgie has a funny noise in the crank I need to repair this week. I have the week off so plan to ride most days to lose a couple of kilos and to get the fitness up a bit more. I want to ride to the prom and back over 2 days or ride some of Melournes Bike paths. Wait and see what happens. Happy Holidays.

A Busy Weekend

Saturday morning I rode with the Inverloch Riding group and did 40 km on the wedgie. I managed to keep up but it was only a small group of 7 and I think the fast ones held back a bit in the last stage to keep the group togather. I really enjoyed the bit from Cape Patterson to Inverloch. This is a great place to live when the local ride includes views across Venus Bay all the Way to Wilsons Prom.
Sunday I rode to Walkerville South beach for a Scout Founders Day. This included a number of activities. I rode the 44 km there and the same back totallling just over 88 km for the day. The weather was very hot and above 35 degrees. I drank at least 5 litres of water plus a small lemon lift and a splice ice cream for the sugar content. The veiw on the way back from Walkerville was great. I have included a picture. This activity day was part of the 100 years of scouting celebtrations so we took a couple of photos for that too.
I averaged just over 27 kph for the trip today and just under 30 kph yesterday. In all a busy weekend and the fitness level is showing. We had a leaders race today across the activities we lay out for the cub scouts and I did well and suprised a few people with the result. It is always good to beat the younger leaders at these things.

The week in review

I didnt ride on Monday as work items kept me late and time ran out before a meeting for scouts at 8pm. On sunday the weather was very poor so i did 47km on the exercise bike.
Tuesday and Wednesday weather was good so I did the 9km to work and the 26km back to give 35.5 each day. Today I did the 34 km block to Wonthaggi and Cape. Got a flat and have worn through the rear tyre. I will need to buy another scorcher and hope to make it a TR Scorcher.
I will probably have a lay day tomorrow and rie on Saturday morning with the Inverloch riders.
Looking at a ride to Walkerville South on Sunday for our Scout Founders Day.

I love the good weather and the ability just to ride and enjoy.

pushing hard

I rde this morning with the group that rides from Inverloch every weekend morning. A 4 km ride with an average of 30.9kh. That is a new record for me. Not sure I can do it on a wedgie but I will need to try. The drafting effect will be interesting as it wasn't much possible as a recumbent withh of wedgies. I tried to stay out of the way but sometimes rode wide and passed a few of them just so they knew I was there. I enjoyed the ride and the fact that it tested me out. The coffee afterwards was good as well. Might do it tomorrow if the westher is good.

A busy Week

Rode 34 km around the block on monday night. A good ride with an average about 29.5 kph. Did a small ride with Heather on Tuseday and got a flat in the rear. A hole in the tyre need a patch and I have patched the tube as a spare.

Didn't ride much again until thursday to work and friday to work . 29km thursday and 36 km friday.
A good week all up but the speedo is showing I am behind the 500 km monthly average I want to keep up. I am still trying to lose a couple of kg from the engine weight but that will come with time and effort. Plan to do th 40 km ride with the Inverloch Riding group tomorrow morning. Need to check the trye pressures in the morning

A slow leak?

The back end was moving about a lot on the corners on the ride last night. I did 25km in 2 laps of town and enjoyed it. Checking the tyre later the pressure was down a bit and I had to pump it up. Hope it is not a slow leak. At some stage my pump must of been a bit hot as the plastic tube has deformed and bend making pumping dificult and the plastic cracked when I pumped up the tyre. Will need to buy a new pump and today I went to Big W and bought a alloy body Repco pump. Hopefully this will last a bit longer that the last one.

This morning I did 3 laps of town and the back end stayed where it should. Tyre pressure is very important. I also passed 2 wedgie riders who were riding on the last leg from the Inverloch riding crew I think. Love being able to pass them by when they didnt know I was coming up near them.

I have changed the pedal on my wedgie ready for training for the Murray to Moyne ride. Can't train with the team tommorrow as I am call and can't go that far away from home in case I need to go to work. This is a little annoyance when on call but I get paid for it. Will go on a short wedgie ride with Heather tonight around town.

Nice weather and quiet roads

Australia Day is over and kids are back at school. That also means the tourists have left Inverloch during the week. The roads are quiet and the weather usually good. I only managed 10km on the bike yesterday as I got called in to fix a door at work. I did another 10km on the exercise bike when I cam home as it was too dark to venture out again.
Today I did 25km in 2 laps about town.http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=327657.
is the link to the track, Average was 29.5 due mainly to the headwind. I enjoyed the ride without the traffic except for a few local hoons circling the town. The give me plenty of space most time but like many others they underestimate my speed.
The rear end is sliding about abit at the moment. I will need to check tread and ensure the pressure is right.
I love riding this trike.

Australia Day

Went for an early ride before breakfast. 33km around "the block" Inverloch to Wonthaggi to Cape Patterson and back to Inverloch. A very nice ride and I managed just over 30kph average. The wind was very light and the veiws along the coast were good. Overcast day but no sea mist. A view with Eagles Nest against the Venus Bay Beaches.
I think some of my soreness on the left side is due to the human desire to stay vertical. The camber of the road and the trike layout means I try to sit upright. I think it is a problem but don't know how to solve it at present. Anyway the riding is still enjoyable.

A nice riding day

Rode 36 km today, 9km to work and 26 on the way home. A bit of a head wind on the first leg home but the rest of the ride was great. Light cloud cover and a tail wind for the last section. Love the downhill with the tailwind at over 50kph. I seemed to have caught up with the time off I have had and the ride seemed easy at the end. Average about 28kph.

Back to Training

I am training for the "Murray to Moyne" Charity ride in March. This raises funds for health services in victoria. It is an overnight ride in relay format. It is a team event and will require that I ride my wedgie for the event. My normal riding has my fittness heading in the right direction but I will need to train my butt to the ride and also get used to riding in a pack. The pack riding will be interesting as it is not something I have done before.
Today I pumped up the tyres back to 70 psi and then did the 20 km loop to Eagles Nest after work. Even with the wind I averaged just over 30 kph. Almost ran over a woman who walked out from the corner without looking. Had the trike up on 2 wheels to get around her and stay on my side of the road.

Back from Jamboree

I was away from home for 2 weeks with AJ2007. Had a great time and some pictures of the troop are below.
I got to ride around Bendigo and Echuca on 2 different days on wedgies and had a good time. I needed the time to just pedal and not think. Both places are good to ride around and Bendigo is the bigger of the 2 with a great range of trails and places to ride. I rode up to the look out and spend a while asleep on the look out. It was cooled by the breeze and out of the dust of Elmore.
The photos show the 2 steads I rode. Just goes to reinforce why I enjoy my GT3 and being bent.
Added later, http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=587136 worked out I must of done about 70 km about Bendigo on the ride. I did the map on gmap as best i can remember and work out. In the heat of the day and the bike that was a long ride. The Echuca Ride was 53 km or there abouts http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=587136
